Debbie’s Story

Site created on November 30, 2019

This is being written by Kevin.

Debbie went to Brigham and Women’s hospital to have a tumor removed from the base of her brain. I’m creating this page to keep everyone that cares for her up to date as things happen. Please continue to send her your prayers and thoughts as we progress on this journey that our path has taken pus down.

Journal entry by Debbie Gilbert

Deb and I have both been sick with some sort of virus (not Covid) since last Tuesday (1/16). It hit us both pretty hard but especially Deb. On Saturday afternoon I was on the verge of taking her to the ER, after watching her vitals hovering near some not so great numbers, and had her med list printed out, and was gathering things when I checked them one last time and started seeing them come around. Luckily I was able to keep her home where I can make sure of her care.
Her vitals now have been better but she’s been very wiped out and without the reserves most of us have, progress has been very slow. Due to sickness elsewhere our day help has not been able to be here so it’s been just Deb and I since Saturday. It doesn’t seem fair that any gains Deb had made over weeks and months of effort are wiped away so easily. But life isn’t fair, right? Sure hasn’t been here.
But we’re still here, and as worn out as we are, we’re still doing our best. I’m sure there are others in this world who would love to be in our shoes and have each the person they love and a roof over their heads.

Here’s to moving ahead. Right Rose?
