Hello All, 

Firstly, we want to update you on our Dad’s current medical status. He remains stable in the hospital with no real changes in his neurological status.

Secondly, we’d like to update you on what is next in our journey.

Over the last two months, we have done extensive research and connected with other families and individuals across the country who have gone through similar experiences to the one we find ourselves in currently. Through this research, we have decided that the best chance to understand our Dad’s long-term potential/prognosis and give him a fighting chance for recovery is for him to participate in a brain rehabilitation program in Houston, Texas at the TIRR Memorial Hermann Hospital (TIRR). 

TIRR’s Disorders of Consciousness (DoC) program specializes in patients like our Dad and utilizes a state-of-the-art approach to assess and treat individuals to help maximize their potential recoveries and outcomes.

Although, we cannot predict our Dad’s long-term outcome, we are determined to do whatever it takes to give him the best chance of recovery, which we believe starts at TIRR in Houston. 

In the next week or so, Dean will be transported to Houston through a medical air ambulance transfer to start the program. Ava and Blaire will relocate to Houston while Dean receives medical treatment and participates in the program, which is likely to be around 4 weeks. 

We want to extend our overwhelming gratitude and thanks to everyone who has supported our family, especially during the last two months.
