It took a bit longer to get pathology results than we were expecting. Add that to an extremely crazy time in our lives! My apologies for the delay!
Pathology came back as a Grade II Astrocytoma. You are probably wondering what this means because I was thinking the exact same thing when they told us! I'm obviously no expert, but from what Dean's doctor has told us, they grade brain tumors rather than saying benign/cancerous, etc. Grade I occurs mostly in pediatrics. Grade II means the tumor is likely slow growing. As the grades progress, the tumor grows more rapidly and aggressively. So a Grade II tumor is best case scenario.
We meet with a neuro-oncologist this next week to figure out what the next steps are. According to our neurosurgeon, this is the normal progression of care for anyone post brain tumor removal. We don't know anymore beyond this.
We will continue to update everyone as we can but life has been difficult and hectic through all of this. We appreciate your continued support and patience!
