Dean’s Story

Site created on May 29, 2023

On Saturday evening, May 27th, Dean and Jen were riding their scooters on a typical route they normally take. When Dean noticed that there was traffic behind them, he passed Jen and began to merge onto the side of the road to signal to let people pass. As Dean was merging back onto the road, his back tire went out from underneath him causing him to lose control and crash onto the road. Dean had immediate injuries and was taken by ambulance to St Croix Falls emergency department. Due to the extent of his injuries, he was transferred Saturday night to the ICU at Regions hospital. They are still evaluating the extent of his injuries. They do know that he has a traumatic brain injury with multiple fractures on his skull as well as bleeding on the brain. He also has multiple face fractures on the right side of his face, 9 broken ribs, fractures on his shoulder, a broken collarbone and scapula, and a collapsed lung. He is conscious and stable but in a lot of pain and we are taking it day by day trying to manage each injury with the trauma team. Please keep Dean, Jen, family, and friends in your thoughts in prayers. Here will be a place to check for updates regarding his condition and recovery.
