Dawson’s Story

Welcome to Dawson's CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep our family, friends, and church family updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting and for praying along with us. If you are new to Dawson's journey, a brief recap of how we got here might be helpful.

The reality is that this story started over two and a half years ago and it is difficult to know how to summarize the journey. One thing we do know is that although this journey has been long and filled with sufferings our God has been faithful every step of the way.

Dawson was diagnosed with a rare disease called antiNMDAr autoimmune encephalitis in August 2019. Since then he has tried every treatment possible but has been refractory to all options (ie, he continues to relapse and the disease overcomes the treatments' progress). Now, in January '22, he began to quickly decline which led to a life flight to Children’s Hospital Colorado in Denver. At Children’s, the multidisciplinary team decided to try a trial chemotherapy that will require once a week treatments for 8 weeks and then ongoing regular treatments for 1 to 2 years. His body is frail and weak but his heart for the LORD is strong.

Thank you for praying and pleading to the Lord with us for Dawson's healing and for our endurance on this journey.

So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal. -2 Corinthians 4:16-18

It's time to bounce! Homeward bound!! So grateful for these ladies and the care they have given Dawson over the past few weeks. Thanking the LORD for His kindness to heal Dawson and bring him home.
