On March 19, 2012 (Monday), I went and saw my internist because I was not feeling good (my right side was hurting and I was nauseous). Blood tests came back indicating it might be my pancreas. After having a CT scan done, my doctor called back stating it was okay (my side area), but there was a mass found on my left breast (about 3 cm). By the end of the week, I was at the surgeon's office having a biopsy. The following Monday, I received the news that I had breast cancer. It is a rare form of cancer, mucinous carcinoma. It usually occurs in women over the age of 48. 3% get it under 48, I guess that is me:) It has not spread anywhere yet. One week later, I decided that surgery is the best option and will have it within a few weeks. Further treatment afterwards will be determined after additional testing is completed.
