Journal entry by Dawn Bondy —
Well, It’s been a long time coming...but, I have finished my infusions! Enjoy the photo of Mark and I ‘ringing the bell’ on the final day. Note the new addition to our family, MoJo!
I didn't have any side effects from the infusions during these last 6 months, so it's pretty much been smooth sailing for a while (well except for that other crap, COVID, going on right now). I have been having a couple of side effects from the pills I have been taking and have to take for the next 5 years, sore elbows and shoulders, mood-changes (pissy) for a couple of days at a time. But, it's slowly getting better.
It's kind of weird to think about, that I now have another box to check on medical forms. But my oncologist says I am now a breast cancer survivor.
I have a favor to ask of you. Could you please continue praying...now, for my sister Darcy and her family. She is now starting her own battle with breast cancer. She will have a lumpectomy on December 14th and then up to 35 days of radiation. My last infusion and doctor’s appointment was on the same day she saw her surgeon to learn more and make their plan...I seriously cannot come up with the words to describe how I feel about the irony of that. It was caught early and the doctor is very positive about the outcome...but it's still really scary and your prayers will help.
Thank you all! I couldn't have done it without all of your prayers and support during this long year of battle. Mark and I feel blessed to have such love and support from all of you. God has shined His light upon us and like each of you, stood by our sides throughout this journey. May He be there for the needs you have and continue to show His grace upon us all.
