Journal entry by Danielle Spicka

We visited with Dad's oncologist today and as expected, he has several new masses and quite a few old masses that increased in size since his last scan. We started him back on a low dose of his oral medication again for about 5 days which didn't go well. Most of his side effects returned and he decided to discontinue at least for a while in order to be able to enjoy some upcoming visits from family and friends.

It seems as though he goes back and forth often on having his goal be quality of life vs quantity. He is currently saying he is interested in doing another infusion (despite knowing the lengthily debilitating side effects it will most likely cause again).

Since he can't tolerate even the low dose of his oral medication and knowing how horrific the last infusion was, Colin and I are not on board with moving forward with it.

At the end of the day it is his decision and we will be here to deal with whatever aftermath it causes and the additional care and abundant stress associated with getting him through it.

Since he is currently off of his medication he is feeling great and definitely up for visitors and outings. Reach out to him or myself if you'd like to arrange to see him before he begins treatment again.
