Hey everyone: Nancy Saunders here posting for
David Saunders
David passed away last Friday, November 20 after two years of dealing with ALS. He was ready to greet God and would ask me every morning for the last couple of weeks if that day was the day he would meet God and I would have to say "No, honey, we have a couple more sleeps before you see God". He was ready. He chose his beloved father Howard's birthday to be the day he would "fall asleep and wake up in Heaven" (borrowing Pastor Don's words). It was beautiful.
He looked up Charlie Daniels on youtube, turned on "I'll Fly Away" and started to play it. He had his thumbs up to the beat of the music and by the time the credits rolled, I turned and he was fast asleep. A few minutes later, it was OK to remove his mask and he breathed on his own for a good half hour and then peacefully expired.
Your love and support were felt by him and all of us. His posts, discussions and prayers with you all helped sustained him and keep him stimulated as his body broke down little by little. I can't thank you enough for keeping him in your prayers.
A memorial service will be held at St. Andrew Lutheran Church on Monday, November 30 at 10:00am Central Time. It will be streamed Live on their website https://standrewlu.org/worship/online-worship/
Stay tuned if the link gets updated. If you are local to the Minneapolis area we strongly urge you to participate via Live stream for safety reasons and stay home. I will be posting his obituary that he wrote himself on a separate post.
Again, thanks so much for your love and support of my husband. Have a blessed Holiday season and stay healthy and stay safe everyone.
