Thursday night at 7:20pm David let go of my hand and took the hand of his Lord and Savior.  As difficult as this week has been he smiled at us all until late Tuesday night when I went to sleep and in a faint voice, he said I love you for the last time.  Thank you is insufficient for the love and prayers that have been lavishly showered on us over the last three years. Obituary is posted below:  Parking will be available in the Washington St parking lot and the first floor of the Marion St garage.

Obituary David Earl McCaskill

Phillipians 4:13

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

Born January 15, 1965 to Sam and Agnes McCaskill in Camden, SC David Earl McCaskill could do all things. He built a business from the ground up and grew it into one of the largest power sweeping and maintenance companies in the Southeast. He could fix what was broken, solve any problem, help anyone in need, and he loved the Lord with all his heart. Even though he had tremendous business success his greatest achievement was his family. He loved to be with his family on the water in his boat! He counted sunsets with his wife Fran (Fogleman) McCaskill and tried to determine how many they had seen. He was so proud of both his daughters and if you talked to him for any length of time you knew he adored them. He loved the guitar, Gamecock sports, Camden, Lake Wateree and boating, which earned him the nickname of “The Captain” by most of the girls’ friends. He hosted countless youth groups, end of the year parties, and 4th of July celebrations at his home on Lake Wateree (Camp David) where he stayed on the boat pulling a tube most of the time. He was a reserve policeman for over 20 years and the law enforcement community was a second family to him. Prior to his illness, David was an active member of First Baptist Columbia, Caprecian Club, Palmetto Club, former member of 800 Sweeper, NAPSA, and past chairman of the Lake Wateree Association. He is survived by his wife Fran (Fogleman) McCaskill, daughters Dr Ashley McCaskill Foreman (Reid) and Mary Elizabeth McCaskill Miller (Chip) two brothers Myron Wayne McCaskill (June) and Fredrick Darrin McCaskill (Yana), and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Samuel Dale McCaskill (Debbie).
