David’s Story

Site created on June 9, 2018

On Friday June 8th, our family took David to Dickinson, ND for an ear infection and to speak with the doctor about other symptoms and concerns that cropped in the past couple weeks. After some blood work, we were hit with the news that David has leukemia. This is the beginning what could be a long road ahead.

Welcome to the Alvey family’s information hub regarding David Jr.’s medical journey. Thank you for taking the time to check in with our status and progress. Everyone’s love and support thus far has been deeply appreciated. Every text message and phone call, every physical gesture and babysitting service has been incredible. Thank you!

Newest Update

Journal entry by Paris Alvey

It’s been a while since I posted an update. A lot has happened since. As I write this, we are in the Mckenzie county hospital for a high fever. He is resting in bed with his favorite pillow and blanket. We will do bloodwork and go from there. It’s customary to send us to Fargo right away but there’s been times he’s received antibiotics and gone home. We will see.
We recently bought the house of our dreams. God is so good and provides abundantly for His children. We have been taking control of our finances and it has done amazing things for me personally. I have learned a systematic approach to my finances which in turn has taught me to be systematic in other areas of my life to achieve my goals. My hopes is it will bear much fruit in the life of my family and that I can teach my children to set goals and achieve them with a plan.
This period of life certainly has been as blessed as it has been challenging. It’s been a roller coaster. It’s definitely tested my faith. Almost to a breaking point. But He is faithful and never lets go.
We just got the bloodwork done are awaiting the results. He is at a point in his treatment where his counts are very low, making him very vulnerable to infection.  We ended up in the hospital the day after thanksgiving and were in Fargo for a week.  We will see how things go today.
To anyone still following our journey, thank you!
