Dave’s Story

Site created on June 16, 2023

As many of you know, in the fall of 2022, our Dad  received the life-altering diagnosis of Multiple Myeloma, a rare form of cancer that affects plasma cells in the bone marrow. Our Dad has been doing the newly improved four drug chemo treatment, twice a week, for the past five months. Now he will begin phase two of his treatment: a bone marrow transplant. This autologous stem cell transplant, is where Dad's own healthy stem cells will be harvested and then reintroduced into his body after high-dose chemotherapy. Dad will beginning the preparation of the transplant starting this week and the transplant itself is scheduled for July 5, 2023 at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL. The medical team has provided us with comfort and confidence as we face the road ahead.

Throughout this challenging time, Dad has had nothing but a positive spirit. Our family is thankful for the unwavering support system from our family and friends. The words of encouragement, love, and prayers has truly been a source of strength for him. We understand that this journey won't be easy, and there may be setbacks along the way. But together, we will navigate through the difficult times, celebrate the victories, and keep our spirits high.

We will provide regular updates on our Dad’s progress as we embark on this transformative phase of his treatment. Together, we will help Dad conquer this disease and shine a light of hope for all who face similar challenges!

With love and gratitude,

Nicki and Dillon
