So it has been a looooong time since I posted on here and I realized I kind of left a lot of folks out here hanging!! My apologies! It was such a whirlwind when Kircher was discharged home. I was on full alert at all times. It was like bringing a baby home from the hospital but not really….I was very over protective and Kircher was ready to go! Imagine that…

The first few weeks were tough trying to hold him back at times. He saw things that could be done and saw no reason why he couldn’t. “Move your car, I’m gonna get the rider and mow the lawn, I need a new chain saw I need to trim these trees, I have to go dump my trailer” etc… Sigh…

While I was able to hold him back on some things, others there was no chance. I felt like I had to choose my battles 🤪

Follow up appointments have all gone well. He has been discharged from all therapy, he passed the driver simulator and has driving privileges back (he was soooo happy), his neuro surgeon had a follow up CT and check up and all was perfect. The remaining healing he has is his shoulder and ribs. They are still very painful and the AC separation is limiting his range of motion. He has a follow up with the Ortho next week. Thankfully this doc is awesome and Kircher really likes him so he listens to him 😬

Cognitively he is back to himself. If you talk to him you would never know the trauma he went through. Aside from the fact that he is extremely grateful to be alive and humbled by all the people who have followed this journey.

He has no lack of support that’s for sure. His buddies have been available for any project he needs help with. He does what he can and rests when he needs to. He is learning to listen to his body and not push it too much.

He did sit down a few weeks ago to read all of these journal entries. He kept telling everyone how he doesn’t remember anything from the hospital except the last few days. I wanted him to know what he went through for his own sake and also for mine. So he understood why I am overly protective/cautious. It was very emotional for him to read it but he was glad to fill in some of the blanks. So I am glad I decided to journal all of this. For us and for all of you that followed along and sent all the prayers and positivity. It worked!!! He is a miracle. We are thankful for everyday and have a new perspective on life that is for sure!
