Journal entry by Julie Silander —
Sometime very early this morning, our sweet Dad was finally healed and whole. He had passed away in his sleep — which had been his desire. The hard work of waiting is done. He taught us to live well, to love well and now, how to die well.
A few days ago Dad reached down and touched his abdomen, which had been the source of so many medical problems and much pain, and he said with a childlike wonder, "It doesn't hurt anymore." The healing had already begun. Now it is complete.
Funeral arrangements will be finalized and shared in the next day or two. Thank you for loving him well, and/or loving us well, and for taking the time to read this last chapter of his story.
"But in this world nothing stays still, and in the fullness of time Miss Heliotrope and Old Parson became very old indeed, and tired of life in the world, so they took off their bodies and laid them aside and went joyfully away into the next." Elizabeth Goudge (from The Little White Horse)
