Journal entry by Darci Taylor

For 4 months I had back and rib pain that got progressively worse. It became debilitating to the point that I had to sleep in a recliner because it got too hard to lay down and especially hard to get up. At the worst I spent my time in the recliner and only got up to the bathroom. Darran or the kids had to practically lift me out of the chair and off the toilet. I was finally prescribed high a high dose of prednisone, which helped a ton. I had seen my chiropractor who from the beginning said I needed an MRI and at the end said I needed prednisone. I saw 4 other doctors that blew me off and one even suggested the pain was in my head. I finally got a back doctor that said I had been in pain too long and ordered an MRI. The results showed a tumor breaking out of my sacrum. I was immediately referred to an oncologist who ordered blood work that day. The blood work clearly showed cancer. Multiple Myeloma (bone marrow cancer) is the diagnosis. I have received 2 subQ chemo treatments and 2 radiation treatments. Tomorrow I will have my third of each. Chemo will continue every week. Radiation will continue every weekday for 2 weeks.
