Dan’s Story

Site created on April 11, 2018

On April 8,  Dan woke up unable to move his right arm and leg.  After an ER trip, he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. We are doctoring at Mayo- thankful for living so close to the best!   We feel the love and will use this page to communicate what is happening.  Thank you for the love and prayers.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Jessica Wagner

Hi Family and Friends!

Thankfully it has been a while since we have updated!  August was filled with Dan regaining his energy. He continued to work as he had throughout treatment, but with no more appointments on top of it.  He has golfed a little.  He won his flight in the Club Championship!! He was pretty excited about getting back to golf.  We spent some time as a family doing chores around the house and going to the zoo and the fair.

This week Dan had his follow up MRI and appointments.  The scans are looking great! We will have another follow up in 3 months, but we were both happy to hear our neuro-surgeon say, "You will more likely have grandkids before we need to meet again."  With this kind of tumor, it has a tendency to reoccur.  However, Dr. Burns is very confident he got it all.  It was a relief! Dan will continue to follow up with regular neuro-oncology for the next few months and years, but mostly MRI's and follow ups.

Thank you so much for all the prayers and support we were given during this time. Your generosity in forms of gift cards, food, loving on Henry and Fiona when we weren't able to -brings me to tears just to think of the kindness and love that has surrounded us. Thank You! does not even come close to expressing it, but there really are no words for it. We are lucky. God has blessed us with so much- including people to lift us up and carrying us through some very scary stuff.

Fall weather has arrived and school is officially starting! Both kids love their teachers and I am learning names of a little over 100 new students.  Dan is off this morning in Winona recruiting for Federated. I am sure it is a beautiful drive!

With so much gratitude and love,
Jess
