Dan’s Story

Site created on September 23, 2018

Dan is a loving and well-loved husband, father, and grandfather who was recently diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.  His family has asked that you be added to this Caring Bridge to receive answers about his progress and to offer support to them and to Dan.  As much as his family appreciates the care and concern that we have for Dan and for them, it can become exhausting to answer the same questions regularly.  So, posts will be updated here regarding Dan's treatments and well-being,  specific prayer requests, and opportunities to help his family.  Feel free to leave your questions, prayers, offers of help, words of encouragement, etc. here.  The family can see them and respond accordingly.  Thank you SO much for being available for Dan and his family!

Journal entry by Kimberly Berger

9/25/18. Day 3 of chemo went well and Dan is tolerating it well. Two more days on this round. They told us today he’ll have a 5-day round every 3 weeks for a total of 6 treatment cycles. Then they will reassess and see where we go from there. In our body, when our white blood cells die off, we replace them with new ones. The problem when you have lymphoma is that the body produces new cells and your old ones haven’t died off. You have way too many. Kind of the opposite of leukemia. Enough of the biology lesson for now. Dan’s pain is less that it was. His vision is still wonky. He was so down, he needs to work real hard on getting stronger. Thanks for your continued prayers.
