Official plans to break out!
Dan is doing SO well at Madonna that they chose to extend his stay a little longer. He was meeting all of his goals, so they wanted to see how many more goals they could get him to meet, prior to discharging from inpatient. It was originally planned for Dan to come to our (Derek & Taylor’s) house wheel chair bound. He will now come intermittently wheel chair bound! He is now at the point of being able to walk about 300 feet at a time with his walker a couple of times a day! His strength is really starting to return in his lower extremities. This allows him to use his wheelchair to conserve his energy for his transfers and short distance walks.
Today in therapy he worked on walking outside, up and down curbs and even getting in and out of a truck!!
The best news we have heard this week is that Dan is finally breaking free! He is going to be released May 7th at 10am from Madonna Rehab in Lincoln! We can’t imagine what that walk of freedom will feel like for him. If anyone would like to join us for his survivor walk outside of Madonna on May 7th at 10 am, all are welcome!!
We truly cannot thank everyone enough for their kind words and prayers during Dan’s journey. We still can’t believe we are at this point after all he has been through. May 7th will be a glorious day!!
