Journal entry by Christina Sturgeon —
Yesterday marked 11 weeks since the accident.
My dad is at an intensive rehabilitation where he is in therapy 3-4 hours a day.
Every day is a new day and new improvements. He is starting to be able to remember faces and his confusion periods are becoming less. He still gets confused and agitated especially when over stimulated and tired.
He’s been working with physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy daily. During PT they work on standing and holding his balance sitting up. OT they work on getting dressed, bathed, and other daily needs. Speech therapy they are working on getting his vocal cords stronger and he has been cleared to drink water a few times a day. We are hoping for a swallow test soon so we can start incorporating more liquids and food into his diet. This will be a slow process and will come with time.
We also ask that visitors do not show up unannounced. He has intensive therapy throughout the day and it is used for the care givers. Please reach out if you are wanting to visit, as my dad is still working on remembering faces right now.
Please continue to say a prayer for my dad during this journey as he gets stronger and closer to going home.
We will also have some big expenses coming up medically and if you would like to donate our go fund me link is below. Also if you would like to share that would be appreciated as well.
