Journal entry by Heather Lootens —
It has been a few months since our last caringbridge update…we are adjusting to life after cancer and we are proud to report that Dan is in remission. Dan started back at work full time a month ago and has already traveled to New England and will be traveling to Ohio before the holidays. Dan is doing physical therapy twice a week to strengthen his left leg. The neurosurgeon is hopeful he will regain feeling in his thigh and left quadricep from repairs to the femoral nerve. He is still using a cane to walk and has a leg brace to help prevent his leg from buckling. Dan has set himself a goal to be back on the golf course by summer 2024!
His oncologist, Dr. Nazha, is also pleased with his progress. We will meet with him again in January and will continue blood tests / scans every 3 months thereafter to monitor tumor markers.
We cannot express our gratitude for everyone’s love, prayers and support during the last 8 months. We have been overwhelmed by the kindness and compassion of friends, family, neighbors and even strangers during this time. We could not have made it through this darkness without you all. We are so grateful.
All of our love,
Dan, Heather, Eloise, Archie, Ruth & Luca
