Day 25!
I apologize for not keeping up It certainly has become a different world.
Dan has had some improvements and some things that are going to need more attention and support.
his heart is working great and his abdominal issue has healed and appears to be working with no issues. Areas that still need help and assistance:
*There has been some tweaking with blood sugars.
*He is still on the vent via the trach. He is on the lowest amount of assistance. He has had some weaning trials.
*His body and brain are still getting rid of the residual sedation meds he has been on; therefore he is in a delirium right now. Sometimes he is awake with his eyes open communicating with him. He does follow some commands but is still so weak not being able to do others.
I have been massaging his legs and arms 3times a day to keep that blood moving. His hands get so puffy with not enough movement so we need to massage those hands too. He does sit in a chair daily so that strengthens his core.
the doctors are working at getting him off his meds and IV lines.
The next move will need to be going to a hospital that focuses on weaning off the vent and lots of PT and OT. Once we’re off that vent, we’d go to a rehab or Courage Kenny to get him moving with the goal of getting home!!
I will be better with frequent updates. We’ve been in a robotic schedule … a lot of the time we feel like we’re in a dream.
thank you for all of the supportive messages. We love you. ❤️
