Journal entry by Sara Vega —
I haven’t been on here in awhile, but wanted to post a quick update on Dad. He is doing great! His blood sugars are so well controlled now that he is only on 1 medication and he doesn’t need to check his level everyday. He’s taking care of his colostomy himself, taking his medications, and actually joking around a bit. He is still weak and has issues with neuropathy (numbness and tingling) in his legs, but all in all he’s doing really well. I get him his groceries so I know he’s eating well and he had dinner with grandma and grandpa at least once a week. I’m would never have wanted my dad to go through all of this, but I think it was the best thing for him. He was just wasting away in his apartment before. Now we talk almost daily and he seems in better spirits. He is a private man and does not want us sharing his journey anymore, but I just wanted to let you all know that’s he’s doing good. And to thank you all for your love and support.
