Journal entry by Dan Harner —
The last cycle of chemo is finished, I had a final PET scan last week, and went over the results with my oncologist yesterday. And guess what - my lymphoma is gone! Not permanently of course, mine is a type that will come back periodically. Maybe next year, maybe twenty years from now, maybe not until something else takes me out. But for now, I'm good to go.
In some ways this is kind of like a chronic disease: you treat it and it goes away for awhile; sooner or later it comes back and you treat it again. Repeat until there is a cure. It could be a lot worse.
So that's it: I'm done with treatments. My immune system is still low, but should be more or less back to normal in 1 - 3 months. Repeats visits to the doc occasionally to see how things are going. Hopefully they will go well for a long time to come.
