Welcome to Dan’s CaringBridge Site
Sign In to Show Your SupportBelieve or not, there were more smiles than tears at Dan's Celebration of Life and Funeral mass. At the Celebration of Life, we served Dan's favorite drink (Vodka and Lemonade) and candy (Snickers, Twizzlers, M&M's and mints). We had a slideshow of pictures while playing music from Dan's playlist. A couple bags games were set up and stickers with Dan's infamous quotes were on all the tables. There were many great memories shared by friends and family. It was wonderful to see what a positive impact Dan had on so many people.
The day of the funeral was hard but also beautiful. Fr. Max's homily was comforting and the music by the contemporary choir was perfect. We sang and clapped to one of Dan's favorite songs at the end of the mass. The mass was livestreamed and I believe it can still be viewed from the St. Margaret Mary Parish (in Lisle/Naperville) facebook page from April 23rd.
We had an almost 50 car procession to the cemetery where Dan was laid to rest next to a beautiful tree. Later that afternoon as we were leaving the luncheon, rain had just passed through and a few of us saw a beautiful rainbow. (just like we did on the day Dan died).
We miss Dan so much and since the Celebration of Life and funeral there have been plenty of tears. But we take comfort in knowing that he is no longer in pain and is in heaven watching over us just like he promised he would. There have been several real moments already where we know he has. We will do our best to keep his spirit alive by not taking life too seriously, making a game out of absolutely anything, maintaining a competitive spirit, and cherishing relationships with family and friends.
We are so grateful to everyone who has walked with us on this journey. This will probably be our last update on the caring bridge site. We know the love and support will continue. Thank you!
Mary, Megan, Emily and Kyle
