Dan’s Story

Site created on January 22, 2020

Dan has spent his life as a public servant, serving in law enforcement for over 40 years. Soon after his retirement, he went back to work as chief of police for the Lubbock International Airport and after that retirement he was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Prostatic Cancer. He has undergone treatments locally and now is traveling to and from Lubbock to MD Anderson  in Houston and expenses are mounting. We will be updating this site as often as we can with any changes so check back periodically. As you peruse you will see there has been a gofundme set up under the ways to help section of this site. If you can help financially, your generosity will be so appreciated! Prayers are always welcome and requested as miracles occur daily with the power of prayer.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Jana French

Well, today seems to have been a long, difficult day in Houston for Dan and Greta. They need your help and prayers now more than ever. Basically, they found out after meeting with the new doctor today that Dan's cancer has set into his marrow and is constantly destroying his red blood cells. His platelet levels are very low but after a meal they did another blood draw to cross type and match for another possible transfusion.
As far as treatment updates, we have 2 currently. First, there is a different type of chemo that was discussed that is not as strong as the round he was having in Lubbock, but he refused that route - we don't blame him, it would be miserable and the last time it literally did nothing to fight the cancer. The second option is a drug called DES which is only available in North Houston and is not made routinely but if he qualifies he may be able to get it. However, the drug is only administered on Mondays and Wednesdays which would result in weekly or biweekly flights...which is very costly as you can imagine. We would like to ask for specific prayer requests this evening and that is for Dan to qualify for this treatment and also we need prayers for patience and strength for everyone. This is a very, very hard time for Dan and his family so please pray they can find the strength in times of weakness and grant Dan the patience needed to allow the doctor's to find a treatment plan that will work for him. Thank you all for your love and prayers, donations are also still very much needed and appreciated.
