Happy Birthday to Dana!!
Around a year ago we were dealing with Dana's initial cancer diagnosis and really not knowing what the future would hold and whether we would even be celebrating her next birthday. But now, after a lot of prayers, support, encouragement, medical expertise, and the will of one heck of a strong woman, Dana's cancer is in remission and we feel blessed for every day we get to share with her.
Earlier this month her oncologist in Goshen said all her monthly test results look good and moved her appointments from every month to every 3 months, he also started her immunizations. This past Tuesday at her meeting with her bone marrow transplant doctor in Indianapolis, he said all her test results look good and he basically released her - she doesn't have to see him again unless her oncologist in Goshen sends her down there because of a concern. More and more we feel confident that she will meet the doctor's prognosis of the 7 year survivor mark.
Dana is still not the same physically from the transplant. She has returned to work at St Joe (what a trooper - and she completed watching all the Hallmark movies🙂) but it takes her a full 2 days to recover after a shift. We hope over time she will get her full energy level back along with all the other little things getting back to normal as well.
The other issue has been the damage to her bones from the cancer and the accompanying bone pain. She has been getting medicine that promotes bone growth and her bone pain seems to be getting better by the week. She will see the neurologist in Indy again in about 4 months to see if and how much the lesions have filled in. Its a stability issue with her spine so hopefully there will be good news with that issue as well. We will keep you posted.
Thanks again for all the prayers, support and encouragement, Dana and I wouldn't be where we are today without them. And if you get the chance, reach out and wish her a happy birthday, I know she will appreciate it. God bless!
