Curt’s Story

Site created on November 19, 2018

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.  It all started in July of 2018, when  what we thought was a work injury turned into the worst news ever. My dad was diagnosed with High Risk Multiple Myleoma a rare blood cancer that specifically attacks the plasma cells located in the bone marrow; He began treatment right away and aside from some minor bumps in the road has had a pretty good response. He will now be undergoing a Stem Cell Transplant in Rochester hoping to put him in remission. Multiple Myeloma is not curable but it is treatable but the ;High Risk portion of his disease makes his road a little more difficult and he will most likely never be off chemotherapy.

Journal entry by Heather Stehr

He’s home! We brought dad home last weekend and he’s been resting and enjoying familiar surroundings! He remains very tired and weak though. He follows up in February and we’re hoping for no evidence of disease. Normally transplant patients follow up at day 60 and Day 100 but he has to follow up earlier as his high risk status makes it more likely the myeloma will return. Fingers crossed 🤞 Hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas!!
