Newest Update

Journal entry by Melinda Hunter

From Lara-
Thursday 11/17
Sorry it has been a little bit since the last update but it seems like my day gets away from me.
Cullen over all is doing good. He has had a lot of fun and exciting things the past week or so. Last Tuesday was Squids birthday party. We got to go downstairs to the Seacrest studios for crafts and to celebrating Squid. Cullen had so much fun!! Then on Friday we got to go back down and meet Ryan Seacrest himself. Talk about cool!!

Since Cullen passed his swallow study last Monday he has had the biggest appetite and has been enjoying meals he hasn’t had in a long time and some of his favorite treats and drinks. Each day feels like we are getting stronger and stronger. He is now only getting feeds over night since he is eating so well during the day. We have also started taking breaks from the vent during the day and being only on oxygen which he is doing really well with. The short term goal is to be off the vent during the day and on at night and then come summertime we will talk about coming off the vent at night as well.

We were suppose to have left for Riley Children’s last Wednesday but since Cullens INR was not therapeutic we couldn’t come off the heparin drip and be transferred. So we are trying to patiently wait for our inr to increase and get therapeutic so we can make it to rehab. His target inr is 2.5-3.5 and today we were at 2.0 so we are finally getting close. So hopefully we will be heading to Indy soon. Until then we get to hang here with some cool nurses and see our wonderful team. Along with Cullen enjoying Instagram reels about animals.

Thanksgiving is next week and this year I am forever thankful for so many. Thankful for the prayers, love, support, our team and the fact that we are still here fighting and getting stronger.
