Newest Update

Journal entry by Donna Carpenter

A few weeks ago we celebrated the 6 month anniversary of my stroke! These 6 months have been challenging, but also have been a second chance for me to have a renewed sense of purpose. Thank you for your financial contributions, meal deliveries, messages, and constant prayers. They, quite literally, kept me going and, I suspect, saved me.

On February 10 I was taken to the hospital paralyzed on my right side, unable to speak at all. Now, I am speaking, reading, writing, walking, cooking, driving, and making jokes about it all. As of last week, I have been discharged from all three therapies, the most recent being speech. I have been cleared by my rehab doctor to return to work, but I am going to take more time to work on my speech and writing until I'm more comfortable to return to the skilled rehab setting where I was working before (...treating survivors of stroke, among other things, as a speech pathologist. Yes, it's all extremely hilarious! Believe me, you can laugh about it because I sure have.)

About 6 weeks ago my story was published in several news outlets. I am including them below if you haven't seen them. They are powerful accounts of what God did and the way he showed himself not only to me and my family, but to my doctors as well. I hope he speaks to you though my story, however you may need it to. If you only want to read/watch one, click on the Mercy one -- it's my favorite!

Keep praying. Wear a mask.

I love you all.
