I’d like to apologize now for the delay in updates, before I get into details about Craig and his recovery… It’s been a crazy few months for our family.

Craig‘s last infusion was done on October 27. As soon as his timer went off on his machine, all of the nurses from the infusion room came walking towards Craig with sound makers in their hands and clapping. It gives me chills, still thinking back to how it made us feel knowing that that was his last infusion. We weren’t sure at the time, but we felt like God was telling us that this was the last one. As Craig left the room for the last time (for a long time hopefully), he walked out the back door and rang the bell. You know, the one everyone talks about when they know they’re “free”. I can’t even explain the joy it gave me to witness Craig ring that bell.

On Thursday, November 30, Craig went in to Texas Oncology to do a PET scan. We knew he had to wait a couple of weeks before the results would come in, so we waited. I was a nervous wreck, thinking “what if”. His results were sent into his patient portal and he tried to read them out to his mom, Caroline, and I during breakfast one morning. I am no doctor, so I had no idea what they meant. Craig was able to call and get his follow up appointment moved up a few days because we were supposed to be out of town when they had originally scheduled it. Luckily for him, they moved his appointment to December 8. I was not able to go with him to his appointment as I had just had hip surgery on the fifth. I held my breath all day until he called me that afternoon, and said he was officially in remission. What a moment of absolute joy it was to celebrate that with Craig.

When we originally found out that Craig possibly had cancer on July 3, he and I both couldn’t possibly fathom the next few months going by so quickly and easily. But, they did. Thanks be to God and all of our friends and family, neighbors, and people that don’t even know us, for praying for Craig‘s healing and for our family. We couldn’t have done it without you all.

Craig will go back in three months for more bloodwork. He also found out that he doesn’t have to have another bone marrow biopsy! He was pretty darn excited about that news. Possibly as excited as he was about being in remission.

I will continue updating here as we go through our lives. Please continue praying for Craig that he stays in remission for a long time. The doctor gave him about five years, but we know God can do better!

So much love and gratitude sent to each and every single one of you!

Jessica
