Newest Update

Journal entry by Courtney Brand

Hey everyone,

I hope this update finds you all well and everyone is rested up from the holidays!

I’ve had people reaching out so I was thinking it was time for an update but now seems to be a good time because I have nothing but time on my hands for a bit - unfortunately I’m admitted back into the hospital as of tonight.

I have been feeling a little off (weak, extra tired, etc) which is not uncommon with liver disease so I didn’t think too much of it until tonight when I went to turn around quick and collapsed. I was VERY out of it and starting throwing up so Ask A Nurse said we needed to call for an ambulance, which we did (well Scott did, I could hardly put 3 words together.)

After a whole bunch of tests in the ER they found out I have extremely low sodium and I also have pneumonia. As you can imagine, pneumonia is a lot more dangerous when you’re in Stage 4 liver disease so I got admitted to the hospital for the next 2-3 days probably.

Overall, I’m doing better already. I got some fluids into me and started IV Antibiotics. The plan is to treat it aggressively since my body can’t fight it like a normal 31 year old, then once my sodium is stable and I transition to oral antibiotics I will get to go home.

I’m just praying the recovery is quick and I can get some sleep in here. I’ll keep you all up to date on how it goes and when I get home.

Thanks for your continued support as I fight this disease and all that comes with it, it certainly means a lot!!
