Journal entry by Amy Hanke

Cory is back in the hospital for increase fluid loss.  His drain that was in the liver has shifted out and into the abdominal cavity.  So it is draining all the fluid out of his belly from around the tube and  into the bag also.  He lost about 7 liters of fluid within a 6 hour time frame at home so I called the doctor and they sent us to the ER.  This electrolytes were all off at a dangerous levels and his blood levels were all out of wack.  They sent him to ICU because his blood pressure was low and he was very anemic.   He will be here for the weekend and hope to go home Monday or Tuesday.   The oncologist says with his symptoms the way they are the cancer is getting worse and that treatment is not working.  Labs have been great but he has been accumulating fluid way to fast in this stomach to say treatment was working.  So, we got bad news that there is nothing else to do and we have to decide on what kind of care we will be wanting moving forward.  Cory and I had to discuss what his wishes are and where he would like to be at.  So we have decided to go home and make him as comfortable as possible so he can be with his family and friends and of course Sophia.  They are going to put a drain in his abdominal so we can drain it when he gets uncomfortable then he will be coming home with hospice services.  We are so broken-hearted that we are at this point and it just doesn't seem real to us.  Thank you everyone for all your love and support you all have given us over this horrible journey we have been traveling.
