On September 8th I'll be done with chemotherapy and onto surgery–and because of that Caleb and I will be needing more help with my care.
Unfortunately, we've come under some financial hardship. This due to the fact that Caleb's unemployment is ending on September 4th, at which point he will not have consistent income. With my parent's helping me with the medical bills we feel stretched pretty thin trying to make the mortgage every month. Caleb has been trying to find work, and so that gives him less time to take care of me during the time where I am most physically vulnerable.
My surgery is not scheduled yet, but I estimate that it will happen around mid-October. Then, I will be on 6 weeks of bed-rest and will need help with pretty much everything. Cooking, cleaning, getting up, sitting down...the works. Plus having some company will be nice to pass the long and what I am assuming will be painful hours.
My social worker at Dana-Farber turned me onto this website and we hope to use it to request aid from our friends and family and put together a schedule for people to cover Caleb when he needs to be out of the house working.
More info to come!
