Journal entry by Connie Ellison —
This is Connie. I have had several people ask me to give an update on my health. When it comes to writing let me just say I do not have a way with words like Jessica.
As for the pancreatitis the last 2 stents were removed a couple weeks ago. I have a follow up visit on February 1st. I continue to have diet restrictions but have been able to expand the list some. It is amazing what just a little bit of cheese does when added to bean and cheese nachos😀.
In regards to the cancer. I have had several video visits with 2 MD Anderson doctors. The last doctor jokingly said when he saw a pathology report with a lot of descriptive words like mine it tells him they really have no idea what type of cancer I have. There are three possible Cancers it could be, but none of them check all the boxes. However all of them are rare and aggressive.
After a lot of research I opted to not do chemo or radiation. Instead just living as stress free as I can, eating healthy and enjoying my life. On my last local oncologist visit my numbers from my blood were in range and looked good. I go back again for another draw on February 13th. If the numbers are still good I will go every 3 months for a recheck.
I feel good, and sleep well. I have no pain just discomfort from the breast surgery. I am up to waking 3/4 of a mile. A long way from the 3 miles I was walking before surgery, but a good start.
A friend of mine whose dad died from cancer told me that he was asked if he were given a chance to go back and never have cancer would he? He said “nope, I have seen a whole new aspect of Love (Gods Love) in Him and in others that I never would have had a chance to without the cancer.
I feel the same way he did. I know that I am loved by many who continue to pray for me and that my faith is stronger now than it has ever been. What more could someone ask for?
Love to all.
