Colt’s Story

Site created on September 4, 2012

We found out early on through an ultrasound that there was something going on with Colt's bladder/kidneys.  We began to see a specialist who monitored the situation.  The initial thought was that something was blocking the flow of urine.  It would be removed after birth and everything would be fine.  At 37 weeks his fluid levels were so low, he needed to be delivered.  He was born on August 31, 2012 at 7:39 am.  He was 7lbs. 3oz. The next day as the doctors began to investigate what we had seen in the ultrasounds, they found that he needed further testing and they transported him to the children's hospital here.  Since then they have come to the conclusion that there was not blockage, he simply has abnormal, non-functioning kidneys.  Now we are taking it day by day. We have decided to pray continually for miraculous healing, while accepting whatever God decides for Colt and our family, believing He will choose to heal Him in His time and in His way.

Colt stayed in the NICU for 8 weeks while doctors monitored him on dialysis and got him ready to do home dialysis.  It was a long 8 weeks, but he finally came home on October 29th 2012.  He does dialysis with a machine for 10 hours every night, and is fed through a feeding tube with a machine during that time as well.  The feeding tube will ensure that he gets enough nutrition, keeps him full and happy during dialysis, so he basically sleeps through it.  It was tough at first, but he's now doing very well on it.  The doctors say he will need a kidney transplant.  He has to be around 22lbs. before they can do that surgery, so he would be about 2 years of age.

Hello Friends and Family!  We hope you all are well!  I wanted to share some exciting news with you all, but first let me start from the beginning.  When Colt was first born, it really shook our family, and began a time of great trial and difficulty.  For me it was as if everything went dark.  I knew in my head that God was our source, but at the time it did not feel like it, and I could not see it.  When Colt was around 8 months old our dear friend Marty Rhyne shared with us a testimony of a young girl around Colt's age that had been healed.  He encouraged us to watch it online, at Andrew Wommack's website.  As we watched the amazing story of this precious child being healed, I knew in my heart that what God had done in their lives He would do in ours.  I began listening to Andrew's teachings almost daily.  They are saturated with the Word of God, and with some truths I had never heard before.  Much of it challenged me, but as I studied the Bible, and compared it with these teachings, more and more the Word of God came alive.  I began to hear God's voice like never before, and it gave me confidence to hear what he was telling me about Colt.  My own heart also began to heal, and little by little all our lives were being changed for the better.  Y'all, I know without a doubt, that without the principles I learned through these teachings, we would not have made it through that time.  These types of crisis situations destroy families and faith.  A few years ago, I had the chance to talk with Andrew and his staff, about how much we appreciated his ministry, and about Colt's story.  We found him to be a genuine, caring person.  He is the real deal.  As a result of that meeting we decided to film Colt's testimony with them.  The same testimony we had seen years earlier, was now our testimony.  One that we could hopefully encourage others with.  Their film crew came out and filmed with our family for a few days.  We had the joy of getting to know Karen and Ron Bereit, who are part of Andrew's staff.  We connected with them immediately, and and truly enjoyed the time we spent with them.  They did a phenomenal job, and we were able to watch the final product a few weeks ago as a family.  It was one of those full circle moments, that at one time I was not sure would ever come.  Thank you Jesus!!  So, having shared all that, I wanted to let you know that his "Healing Journey" testimony is going to be shown publicly for the first time tomorrow.  It will be shared at the Summer Family Bible Camp in Colorado.  It will be live streamed at this link: https://awmi.churchonline.org/#   It will be during session 3 with Stephen Bransford at 12:08.  If you'd like to see it live, you have to sign in with your email.  The video will also be available later on the website, and eventually on the Gospel Truth TV program.  The original testimony we saw is at this link. https://www.awmi.net/video/series/healing-journeys/?id=J51m1Txm  It is the Hannah Terradez story.  It is our hope that Colt's healing journey will inspire others to trust God, and to go to His Word as their source for everything in life.  I am so grateful to God for all he has done, and is doing in our lives.  Love and Blessings to you all!  Gloria, Colt and Family!
