COLBY'S OBITUARY

Colby Marc Vredenburg, 45, of Coral Springs, FL passed away on July 25, 2021 after a fiercely fought two-year battle with cancer. Colby is from Chariton, Iowa and lived in Coral Springs with his wife of almost 20 years, Nicole, and his children Ava and Charles, and their beloved animals, Rosie, Yoshi and Benny.

Colby is survived by his parents, John and Linda Vredenburg, brothers, Zane and Seth, their wives, Angeline and Tara, and his niece and nephews, Isabella, Gabriel, Elijah, Dwight “Ike” and Leonard “Leo.” Also left to cherish his memory are his in-laws, Ron and Rosalie Jordison, Andrea and Eddie Spinola, Jay and Danielle Jordison and his niece and nephews, Olivia, Colin, Julien and Noah in addition to numerous beloved cousins.

Colby was an amazing chef and loved cooking both in a kitchen and for family and friends. It was his love language. Colby’s other passions were cars, music, traveling and fishing. When his health no longer allowed him to do those things, he took interest in caring for bonsai. Colby possessed a quiet strength and was a calming presence. He was easy to love and hard to forget. Colby embodied inner strength and was always comfortable in who he was...a salt of the earth guy, who was good with his lot in life. Even in the last two years, he would make the most of his situation and focused on the positives. He cared deeply about his friends and family and showed his love and dedication to them through his actions.

Colby and his family were in Fort Myers, Florida visiting his parents, brothers and their families for a long awaited vacation prior to his transition. He was able to coordinate his parents' 50th anniversary celebration at a restaurant, which allowed him to do what he loved, even though he knew he did not feel well. In the days before his passing, Colby was surrounded and enveloped in love by his family and Nicole’s family. Our prayer is that his soul left this earth in peace knowing he would no longer have to fight, be in pain and can walk free again.

Closed casket visiting hours will be held at Monarch Funeral Home in Margate, FL on Saturday, July 31, 2021 from 2 PM - 4 PM with a service at 4 PM officiated by his father-in-law, Elder Ronald Jordison. A butterfly release will follow the service. A private family reception to follow. Any attire is acceptable but yellow is Colby’s favorite color and would be preferred.

The family is deeply saddened to announce his passing and ask those who wish to honor him can do so by donating to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society by clicking here.

Colby was so deeply loved and respected by his family and friends. Those who wish to share memories of Colby or express condolences to his family may through our online guestbook. There will also be a memorial service in Colby’s hometown of Chariton, Iowa on September 4, 2021. More information to come.
