Hello,
Just a quick update since we recently went back to Mayo to get my central line removed and speak to my doctor about my progress. All is going well and I’m currently in complete remission, which is great. My platelets levels and hemoglobin are essentially back to normal and I’m able to do a lot more things without being limited as much.
As my diagnosis gets better I have to worry about relapse which can occur at anytime throughout my life. There is about a 30-50% chance of happening which isn’t the greatest prognosis. Along with that, I am also susceptible to PNH, which is a direct result of Aplastic Anemia and that also has a 30-50% chance of happening throughout my life.
Going forward I am intending to finish one of my aviation degrees and explore other opportunities in aviation as my flying career is unrealistic at this point. I am hoping to fly as a hobby and get back into teaching if possible.
Thank you for all the support! Thank you to my family, Alexa, and all of my friends who have supported me along the way!
