Dad has made steady progress but we have noticed it is all dependent on his morning therapy. Tom has been very instrumental in his progress because he pushes Dad to do his best and Dad is working hard to please him and all of us, but he gets exhausted by the afternoon.  He has been able to say short phrases and is able to write and recollect import info (date of birth, TDL number and even birthdates of family members). Cognitively, we believe he is all there but his body is tired.

He still has not been able to swallow but we hope this will change will continued therapy.

Because of the phenomenal care and attention he has received at Valley Baptist Harlingen and the continuity of care from the medical staff and physical therapists, we have decided to transfer him to the Inpatient Rehab Facility there at VB Harlingen.  Hopefully, this will take place some time next week.

Again, we appreciate all your prayers, inquiries and well wishes for Dad. Please know that we relay all the messages to him!!  Debbie and I are headed home this week to visit him for his birthday (the big 8-5!).  We also so appreciate the Valley Baptist Team for taking care of and advocating on Dad’s behalf.  They truly are amazing!

On a personal note, I want to say how blessed I am to have such supportive family and friends.  Tony will get mad at me for being so sappy, but I think I can safely speak for the ‘The Sibs’ when I say that we all are doing what we can, in our own way to support Dad, as we did for Mom, because our parents taught us to be there for each other. And we feel that same support from you and we thank you.
