Tim’s Story

Site created on January 17, 2019

On Monday, January 14th, Tim Jensen collapsed at work. His coworkers rushed him to the hospital in St. Cloud where it was determined that Tim had a stroke. Upon emergency surgery, the doctors discovered that Tim’s brain was pooling with a mixture of blood and cerebral spinal fluid. A brain surgeon was called in to place two “brain-drains” in Tim’s head that evening.

Since the drains were placed, Tim has been under one-to-one watch by medical professionals in the ICU at the St. Cloud Hospital. They have been running a series of tests and scans to try to determine the cause of his continuous brain bleed but have yet to find answers. At this time, Tim is projected to be in the ICU from 2-4 weeks, with a recovery period of 4-6 months after being discharged.

Journal entry by Krista Ziemer

Yesterday Tim moved to an assisted living/rehab place.  He continues to improve each day!  The doctor mentioned that when they assessed him cognitively/memory when he came to the in-patient rehab he was at a 0 out of 24 points as he couldn't even tell them his name.  In the time he was there he progressed to earning 12 points, which was awesome.  He still has some work to do, but they are feeling he could easily make a close to full recovery.  That was awesome news!!

He is starting to understand and realize that he struggles with some things and this has been difficult for him to accept.  He will have therapies a couple hours a day and then is pretty free after that so visitors will definitely be welcome for him as he gets bored quickly.  If you are interested in visiting, please let Paige or I know and we can give you the details.

**Benefit in Fergus Falls this Saturday, Feb. 23rd starting at 5:00.
**Benefit in Albany, Sunday March 3rd.  More details to follow!!

Thank you so much for all of your support!!  Keep the messages coming on here as well as we read these to him each day!!
