Matthew’s Story

Site created on October 28, 2019

Brynn and I thought this would be a good way to share updates about my goal to become a cancer survivor. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.

In May 2019 I started having some small, occasional pains in my hip. After a series of doctor visits, physical therapy sessions, prescriptions, and diagnoses I underwent an MRI to evaluate a possible hip replacement surgery. Instead of finding a need for a hip replacement we found a soft tissue sarcoma. Additional tests and scans have helped to classify it as Stage 3a (it is larger than 5cm, it is aggressive, but it has not spread to other parts of the body).

We have been working with my doctors to figure out what exactly the tumor is and how to best attack it. We have a great plan and faith that the plan will work.
