Hello all,  as I sit here I know more than I did a few days ago but there will be so much more for me to learn....

Last week after biopsy I found out I have Invasive Ductal Carcinoma = Breast Cancer.
Estrogen Positive
Progesterone Negative
HER2 Positive
Stage 3 or 4

After a week of tests, a bone scan and a CT PET scan to figure out if it is stage 3 or 4.  We know that it is stage 4....   but barely  I have  3 additional spots on my spine which they found after layering the bone scan and PET CT scan. All 3 are small so we are going to proceed with treatment as if it was stage 3.  There is a special name for it but I don’t know what it is yet...  but this is a miracle!! It could have been so much worse.

So you all know I’m a positive person and I’m going to keep being that person. Does this suck?! It does, but I’m going to make it!! The future will have a lot of challenges... chemo, mastectomy and radiation. I’m not going to be able to work, see people or travel for awhile...

Right now today I’m worried about all the unknowns, about Lyle and the kids and about making sure everything is taken care of...  that I’m ready to go.

I’m staying positive and looking for the sunshine and the silver lining. This is just part of my story, but I will rise out of this a better and stronger person, with new projects ahead of me and new places and people to discover!!

Thank you for being part of my life and part of this journey...

In the end all that matters is the love you give, and you will always have mine. ✨❤️✨

Journal entry by Claire Dickey

Hello loves!!  Hope you are all doing well!!  💗 We hope that the holidays were good to you and we hope the coming year is better than the last.

After speaking with my Oncologist and Surgeon Wednesday, I have chosen to have a bilateral mastectomy, and Lyle is supporting this decision completely. At this time, I’m not considering reconstruction.  This may change at some later date but for now we are happy with our decision.  Surgery is scheduled for 2/4 and I'll be in the hospital a day or two depending on how I do.

Lyle as many of you know is the most amazing person. He has given me the utmost care....  and continues to show me great patience even when I have not returned the favor.  He is such a blessing to me and deserves recognition for all he has done and continues to do.  Our love has continued to grow through this challenging time and I am so grateful for him.

The Issaquah Highlands Director, Board, office and council have taken such amazing care of us.  They have continued to support us through this journey and have allowed Lyle to be with me through each and every step.

Thank you for being on this journey with me and my family!!!   I cannot express how much you have all blessed us with your love and grace.  Thank you for the hats, cards, gifts and food!!   Every step we take down this road gets us closer to the finish line.

Love you all ✨❤️✨
