Journal

One year ago this morning (7/17/20) was Claire’s accident. For those that do not know, Claire was burned over 52 percent of her body with 2nd and 3rd degree burns. The skin of her body that was not burned were used as donor sites for skin grafting on both legs and both arms.  Her face was 1st degree burned and chemical peel procedure was performed on her entire face. Her story today is not for sympathy but for PRAISES!   If you have followed her story, you know that she is a miracle (she hates to hear this)!
Through God’s healing grace Claire has made a remarkable recovery over the last 12 months.  It is not been easy for her but she has persevered.  Currently she is preparing for the 8th grade and practicing with Manchester’s softball and soccer teams.  (So glad to get the 7th grade behind us!)
This summer Claire has went to church camp in TN and on a mission trip to TX with her First Baptist youth group. After both of these adventures, she was re-BAPTIZED last Sunday by her youth minister in Broad Lake.  (Claire had been baptized as a first grader but decided at youth camp that this is something she needed to do again.). She plans to serve at our local church this coming week at Day Camp for elementary aged kids.
She is getting micro-needling on her legs every two weeks. Three treatments have been completed. It is too early in the process to show the end results. However, her doctor and us are very optimistic that it will help her constant itching/scratching and scaring.  Given the depth of the incisions and the amount of needling that is needed it is a painful procedure. Like in the past she endures the pain the best anyone can. This week’s procedure was the worse yet but after having in Tuesday afternoon she was able to return to sports practicing on Thursday afternoon.  As long as we see positive future results, Claire will continue micro needling on her legs in the coming months.
We have very grateful to all the medical professionals but most importantly our family and friends that have encouraged Claire and all of us in the last year. Prayers definitely work!!
#BEARSARMY has been a strong part of our lives. I get emotional on the inside every time I see on social media or in person someone wearing one of Claire Bear’s shirt. I know the person wearing that shirt prayed for my daughter.
Claire has lots of questions about her recovery days.  She does not remember a lot of things which is best. I still have not shared pictures with her of physical condition in the beginning days after the accident. We have years ahead of us to do that.
Just wanted to post today to tell everyone THANK YOU for prayers!  God is still in the miracle business and Claire is a product of answered prayers.  Love to all -
Michelle (Mama Bear)

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.  Isaiah 41:10
