Cindy’s Story

Site created on September 21, 2018

On August 30, I went into my primary care doctor for blood in my stool. She recommended I get a colonoscopy, which I received on September 13.  They discovered a mass that was likely cancer. It was confirmed the next day. I am now starting my journey with rectal cancer.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Cindy Yoder

It has been a LONG time since I updated here. I was locked out for awhile since I changed my email address but I am back now.

On January 2, it was 5 years from my surgery to remove my cancer.  Wow, this point seemed so far away when I started this journey.  I had my yearly CT scan on Thursday and a Dr. appointment on Friday.  My previous Dr. left Sanford so I went with Dr. Bleeker, whom I know through SFC, and he was great.  The results from my scan were stable so there is still no evidence of disease. This is great news and I am so thankful!

In the cancer world, the five year mark is calculated from the end of chemo so for me that is the end of June, 2024. So I will have one more CT scan in January of 2025 and then I will be released, hopefully to never be seen again by a cancer doctor.

Thank you for your care and support over the last 5 plus years.  It has meant so much to me and my family.  Praying that it will be another year before I post again.
