Cindy’s Story

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

In September 2023 my mom was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer.  They found one mass in her colon and small spots on her right lung, along with a blood clot in her right lung. So far, my mom has had five rounds of chemo treatment. She was receiving Folfox. Last week my mom had images retaken to see how the cancer was responding. Unfortunately, we did not get the news we were hoping to receive. The cancer has not responded like we would have liked. The mass in her colon has not changed but the spots on her right lung have grown. The blood clot has also grown. Her doctor, Dr. Mescher, would like to have a biopsy of one of the cancerous spots of her right lung to verify if it is a connection to the colon cancer. He believes that her colon cancer might be more progressive that previously thought and that it just simply did not respond to the treatment she was receiving. He anticipates that the results will be in that favor and will switch her to Irinotecan and Bevacizumab for her chemo treatment. I will keep you updated with further news once her biopsy is completed and we receive the results. Please keep her in your prayers. Thank you!

Journal entry by Jeanna Gorka

Good morning. Mom is doing well. On Friday she was enrolled into hospice care. We were not given a time-line. As of now she is still fighting and her normal self.
On a different note, we could use some prayers for strength and comfort for a different reason. Some of you know Mary, Glen's daughter, she is like a stepdaughterto my mom. Mary had an infection in her leg that required her leg to be amputated from the knee down. The Monday after her surgery she went into cardiac arrest that caused brain damage. She is currently on a ventilator but if they do not see any improvement tomorrow they will make the decision to take her off of life support. Please pray for her family as they go through this hard and sad time. She was a big part of their family and she has so many friends that love her dearly. Thank you.
