Cynthia A. Maves, 58, of Rochester, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Friday, September 13, 2019, at her home.


Cindy was born June 17, 1961 in Rochester, MN to Dale and Josephine (Bronk) Grabarkiewicz. She was a graduate of Lourdes High School and went on to receive her degree in drafting from RCTC. On August 15, 1981 in Rochester, Cindy married Alan Maves. Cindy started her career as a pre-computer drafter, a daycare mom and then spent 30 years driving school bus for Rochester Public Schools. She was a member of Pax Christi Catholic Church, where she also taught Sunday school, a member of Olmsted County Republicans and helped found/create Rochester Tea Party. Cindy enjoyed doing various types of crafts and creating special memories with her grandchildren. She was a dedicated daughter spending extensive time with her parents running the Haiti Mission of Mercy, as well as helping in their garden. Cindy was full of passion, whether it was passion for her family, politics or everyday life. She gave everything of herself in everything she did. Cindy was a devoted mother to her sons and grandchildren, always beingpresent for sports, school events and always going above and beyond to make holidays, birthdays and everyday life extra special. Above all things, her family was her most treasured possession.


Cindy is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Alan Maves; sons, Pierre Paul Maves of Rochester, Adam (Melissa) Maves of Plymouth, MN and Charles Maves of Rochester; grandchildren, TheodoreJocelynAva and Aidan; parents, Dale and Josephine Grabarkiewicz of Rochester; sister, Julie (Bill) Cole of Rochester; niece, Cassandra Grabarkiewicz and a host of other family and friends.


A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 20, 2019 at Pax Christi Catholic Church, 4135 18th Ave. NW, Rochester, MN 55901. Visitation will be held 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 19, 2019 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester and one hour prior to the service at the church. Celebrant will be Father Will Thompson. Burial will be held at a later date.
