Cindy’s Story

Site created on May 7, 2020

Thank you for coming to our CaringBridge page to follow Mom’s recovery – it means so much to our family.  Early Thursday morning Cindy suffered a serious stroke and was rushed to the Mercy hospital in Des Moines for treatment.  They successfully removed the clot from her left hemisphere, and began assessing how it may have affected her.  At this point, they have removed her breathing tube and she appears to be aware of those around her.  But she has not spoken yet, or been able to voluntarily move her right side.  We are still waiting to hear results from her most recent MRI to determine the extent of the damage caused by the stroke.  We have a long road ahead of us, and appreciate all of your prayers and encouragement.

Hello all,
A lot of you have been asking for moms address, and I have provided it below.  She's doing pretty well.  She's tired and is struggling with remembering some things.  It always seems to be at the tip of her tongue, she just can't quite grab it.  We all have been able to go over and spend time with her, and it's been really nice to see her and talk to her.  She is starting her PT and OT next Friday, which will help her progress and also give her something to do.

Our family thanks you all for the prayers, well wishes, meals, cards, flowers and kind words in your comments.  Mom hasn't been in here to read this yet, but I'm sure she will be overwhelmed by the outpouring of love from all of you.
