Journal

Second round of immuno is done. Chris had it on Wednesday and it was a totally different experience from the first time. To begin with, I was able to keep it together and not cry which I know everyone appreciated. I guess word got around that hysterical girl and her husband had an appointment that day- everybody be cool.
The treatment didn't take as long this time, a little over an hour. He was awake the whole time making snarky remarks to the nurses and making me get up and get pretzels every few minutes. One of the sweet nurses said to me, " I bet he is real funny at home!" Chris, as you could imagine, loved hearing this and has mentioned it no less than a dozen times. My eyes almost got stuck in the back of my head I rolled them so hard.
Something I have found quite humorous about this whole thing is how this has totally changed his taste buds. For YEARS now when we have gone to eat the waiter has always put the double cheeseburger down in front of him and the baked salmon in front of me.........but it was the opposite. He would occasionally have some dark chocolate while the kids and I panic if we don't have ice cream in the house at all times. His love of broccoli is a mocked........a lot.
Now he craves Sonic. Double Cheeseburger and mozzarella sticks to be specific. Not the worst fast food ever - but close. But in true Chris fashion he tells me - I guess you can go get me some mozzarella sticks but make sure you get 10 so you can have 9 and I can only have one. Sure buddy. Whatever you want.....
Sherbert. The orange kind. Loves it. Vanilla wafers. He keeps peanut butter in a drawer by his bed now. All these things he laughed and made fun of me for for all these years has come full circle. Going to be honest, that feels good.
We wont know when our next session is for another week or so. He has had some swelling in his ankles which we are watching so if you see him up and moving around feel free to push him down and yell at him to ELEVATE YOUR FEET. I do.
As we get ready to start thinking about the end of 2019 I am trying to appreciate the good things that happen every day. And its funny, once you start really paying attention to it, there are a million of them. Keep praying for peace, our medical team, our families, and for a cure.
