Newest Update

Journal entry by Fran Turner

As the  last few hours in 2018 are passing, we welcome 2019!  What a year it has been for us!  We wish each of you happiness, joy, good health, and lots of laughter and fun for the year ahead.
My holiday was spent in Colorado, December 19th - 29th.  I stayed with Andrew, and we saw Chris  almost every day.  We got him out for dinner, coffee at Starbucks, and went to DMV in Castle Rock to get a picture ID (much easier than DMV iin northern VA!).  He loved each outing!  Andrew, Hayley, and I had a meeting with the administration, and they feel Chris is making progress.  The director at Silver Heights thinks Chris has settled in and is more content.  He participates in many of the activities.  Their thinking is that Chris will go to an Assisted Living place when he is ready.  Chris was in the meeting and agrees as he knows he will get more PT there.  Time and progress will tell when that will be.  A physical therapist is helping Chris to use a walker, and progress is evident.  He is also working to strengthen his left leg and arm  by doing certain exercises and using weights.  Andrew, Hayley, Kim, and I got up to the mountains to get needed and wanted items from the house.  What treasures we found...   We are  working with Andrew's realtor to get the house ready to sell (the realtor sold Andrew his condo 12 years ago).  Selling the house will occur when winter is over and the snow is gone!  I will be back in Colorado after my two cataract surgeries are over!  First one is scheduled for January 23rd and the other one will be February 6th.  It seems like there is never a dull moment!!  December 28th marked 6 months since Chris had the accident.  We are thankful for the progress he has made, but we still have an unknown journey ahead of us...  Happy 2019 to each of you!  Thanks once again for all your support and love.
