Journal entry by Briana LaVine-Leigh —
Christopher James Leigh took his first steps in three months this last Tuesday. He was cleared to start putting weight on his legs last Tuesday and had PT that same afternoon in Fargo. I was going to take a video but I was sobbing all over the place and just couldn’t do it.
In the week since then he has gone for his first road trip with a buddy (thanks Adam Stonestreet!), gone to Church, our local grocery store (they were very happy to see their top beef customer back in the aisles) and to the GYM (thank you TNT!). He’s pretty slow moving on the feet yet, and ventures around 50 feet at a time-but it’s amazing he can walk at all...and I think he got taller? Maybe all the metal?
So now he has PT a couple times a week and needs to work the heck out of his legs, as much as he can at a time with the pain. Hopefully he will be able to show off his dance moves at the benefit on Tuesday! Oh my gosh you guys, the benefit-I am absolutely BLOWN away by the organizing, donations and the helpers, it’s so humbling and overwhelming. Thank you all so much. It’s just unbelievable.
