Journal entry by Chris Haggerty —
It has been a quiet few weeks of healing and slowly regaining my strength. I am eating full meals again and working part time. I still get fatigued during the day, but a little rest at lunch time and at the end of the day keeps me moving. Slowly my body is healing from the chemo and radiation; since so much was concentrated on my sinus' the healing process has a lot of mucus. Suffice it to say I am keeping tissue companies in business right now.
The big news is that I had a MRI last week and met with both my oncologists (medical and radiation) on the results this week. The news is good in that there are no signs of the original tumor or any others in the affected areas of my sinus', the skull base, lower brain, and my neck lymph nodes. I will have another MRI for follow up in 3 months and regular scans beyond that to ensure nothing new pops up.
So I am definitely at the end of the beginning of my cancer journey and have gotten rid of the initial cancer and will be going into a phase of watchful observation.
Again I can't thank everyone enough for the prayers, cards, help, yard cleanup (shout out to the Bishop Miege boys tennis team), food, and good vibrations that have been coming the last 6 months. I'm so thankful for all of the support and I have been saying prayers of thanksgiving for all of the friends and family that have been supportive during this tough time.
